What is a middle?
Land in the gap
Two numbers that do not touch. If the result sits between them, both tickets cash. If it misses, you usually lose the juice on one side.

Over 2.5 at one shop, under 3.5 at another. The integer 3 is the landing strip. Hit it and both cashiers smile. Miss it and you are paying the tax on the loser.
This is not a lock unless the worst case still profits. That cost % on the Middles row is the downside. Read it.
